A teenager has been arrested for the Sunday afternoon shooting of a 13-year-old in Sioux Falls, police say.
Jasir Nayquan Holder, 16, of Sioux Falls, was arrested around noon Monday at a Sioux Falls high school, police spokesman Sam Clemens said. Clemens said he didn’t know which high school the arrest took place at.
Holder met a group of five teenagers for an unknown sale at around 4 p.m. Sunday near Fiero Place and 30th Place North, Clemens said. Holder approached the vehicle and talked with the occupants for a short time before he pulled out a gun and fired one shot. The bullet hit a 13-year-old girl in the leg, and she was transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Clemens said.
Holder will be tried as an adult and is being charged with five counts of aggravated assault, one count of committing a felony with a firearm and another count of discharging a firearm at a motor vehicle, Clemens said.
